As I grappled with the devastating reality that my time with Kennedy was shorter than I had hoped, fate had its own plans. The news of his inoperable tumor and his struggle with basic functions left me heartbroken. I knew it was only a matter of time before his internal organs would reach a breaking point.
Yet, even in the midst of this pain, Kennedy’s spirit remained unbroken. One evening, as we stood on the dock, a heron gracefully landed atop my home. Kennedy observed it briefly but soon grew bored, leaving K2 to keep a vigilant eye on the bird—a true bird’s-eye view guardian.
But what truly brought Kennedy to life were the dolphins. The moment K2 and Kennedy heard the unmistakable sounds of a nearby dolphin, it was as if Kennedy had found his second wind. Watching him eagerly rush to see his beloved marine companions brought me a bittersweet joy. Best Dog Ever.

About one year ago I started telling the story of Kennedy in a series of ongoing posts.... "A Dog's Life" was the recurring title phrase. Exactly one year ago today, I captured a moment that carries immense meaning in my heart.
My beloved German Shepherd Dog Kennedy (on the left) and his playful puppy companion K2 shared their love for spicy food—a joyful scene. I had made slow-cooked Pakistani beef (Nihari) with marrow-filled bones, a treat too tempting to keep to myself.
Despite knowing their doggie beds would bear the consequences, I brought the bones to them in my cluttered home office. It was worth every bit of mess to see them savor the flavors and stay close to me.
Kennedy had been facing some struggles those past few days, and in his gaze, you might notice a trace of that. Yet, his indomitable spirit—an eternal part of my soul—shines through in the way he acknowledges the spicy treat with a heartfelt smile.
That moment is a cherished reminder of his incredible strength and love for life. Best Dog Ever!

Kennedy Watched For Dolphins Nearby As K2 Went For A Swim In Tampa Bay Waters Mid-October 2020 - IMRAN™

I brought both my dogs to my neighborhood beach on the very first day I got them. Kennedy, a 4-5-year-old rescued German Shepherd in February 2019, was intrigued but did not fall in love with the water until later. K2, a 2-month-old German Shepherd puppy, came to this beach spot in April 2020, and I recorded the cutest video of his first time going in the water that day.

This was recorded exactly six months later, on October 15, 2020, during the pandemic era. K2 was growing fast and went for a swim. Kennedy was excitedly watching for the dolphins that had passed us a minute earlier.

In the second video, he too goes for a swim but is more interested in the dolphins than in swimming. Later on, multiple daily wades in Tampa Bay became Kennedy’s routine, while K2 only did regular swims in the swimming pool at home or in the bay if I tossed something for him to fetch.

Exactly five years ago today. The forever smiling Kennedy in the back. Fast-growing K2 in front had been with us a full five weeks. He was just 13 weeks old in this photo. 

Both German Shepherds were waiting as I was bringing them a treat. They watched me take this photo of them with my own selfie reflection in the sliding door. 

The doubled title words play on there actually being a dual reflection in the double-paned glass. I had to use high contrast to avoid it looking too much like a shaky camera photo.

Hurricane At Lowest Tide, Not Terrible Wind, Still Overfills Tampa Bay Apollo Beach Florida - IMRAN™

I’ve been blessed to sit through several major hurricanes at my blessed home on Tampa Bay, Florida for the last dozen years. Post neck surgery, and with two large German Shepherds, it would have been impractical to evacuate anyway as this latest one hit the state. Kennedy & K2 are curious about what’s going on. You’ve seen videos of them jumping off this empty lot on to the sand. Right now, even at lowest tide time, and without any terrible wind, the water is easily coming on to the lot. My home is taking a hit of a different kind that I’ll post later.

At very low tide I get an extended private beach on Tampa Bay at Apollo Beach. Kennedy & K2 had been patiently watching the pair of ducks bathing at the back of the home from the other side of the home, when we returned from a morning walk, and now dockside. 

My dock is more than 8 feet above the sand. It’s quite a drop, which would break me if I did it. The German Shepherds looked at each other,  as if to say, “Shall we?” 

Before I could get my iPhone recording, they both leapt & landed eight feet on the sand below, and off they went. Talk about “jump(running)start”! 

The ducks had not expected that bold move.  It took them a moment to scamper to deeper water. Kennedy & K2 didn’t care. They weren’t really “hunting”. They just got into running and wading in cold Tampa Bay waters as was their primary interest.

Even though streaming platforms may not do it justice, this livestream is actually from my super awesome Nikon D850 camera, a gift of a beloved one for my birthday 2 years ago. Since the iPhone 13 Pro Max has such an awesome camera, and it is with me all the time, sometimes I do not get to use this Nikon (or even the now 15 years old D300) as much I would like. Today, as I saw a deep orange color form over the moody sky I decided to do this livestream with the Nikon D850 and it's 4K video. But for file size reasons I only recorded it at regular HD & H.264 compression. The wind-noise reduction is better on this https://youtu.be/MO_wtHQAiUs .

It was a hot Saturday and the 90F felt hotter than usual a few hours ago. Now a strong wind, which makes it hard to be heard on camera, makes the temperature more pleasant but definitely not great for audio commentary. In either case, enjoy a spectacular Tampa Bay, Florida, boating sunset livestream with my German Shepherd Dogs, Kennedy and K2, at the dock of my blessed home this wonderful Saturday. Unfortunately, it is not a cute wordplay humorous title, but it is accurate. Thanks to sleazy organizations and corrupt politicians releasing tons of toxic waste into Tampa Bay waters the last 3 days have caused thousands of dead and dying fish to float by. Who knows how many more died in the wider and deeper parts of the bay, and elsewhere. EACH white spot (especially if you see this on a monitor vs a small device) is a dead or dying fish. Hundreds that are lodged on the rocks and shorelines are not even clearly visible. Shame on the people who let such a criminal slaughter take place.

German Shepherd Dogs Kennedy Looking For Dolphins & 3 Months Old Puppy K2 Looking For Ways To Annoy Him - IMRAN™

Kennedy, a GSD rescue I got in 2019, is one of those German Shepherd Dogs that should be a breed called Saint Something for his patience. K2 was a three months old puppy when I recorded this video at the dock of my blessed home on Tampa Bay, in Apollo Beach, Florida. This was a few days after my birthday last year, and only 5 weeks since K2 had found his forever family home here.

As boats go by you can see Kennedy keep an eye on them but his real interest is to wait for his dolphin buddies to show up. K2 in the meantime is getting ON Kennedy's nerves, by getting UNDER his skin AND his body to playfully bite at the larger dog's legs. 

I love how Kennedy is so gentle even when he play fights puppies, smaller dogs. His tenderness is most incredible when I have seen him approach babies in strollers and sniff but without waking up the sleeping infant. That is better than some people's kids I know. LOL

Florida Dreaming Florida Winter's Day Dog Walking Tampa Bay Florida (Livestream) - IMRAN™ This work week it seems like the pace of everything picked up instantly from Monday. The first week of the new year was slightly slower paced than expected, as people returned from vacation and holidays. But this was also the first start of a year with an ongoing pandemic, and a failed insurrection at the US Capitol adding to the national stress. Things on the work front did suddenly jump into high gear on Monday. So it was the chance to take the dogs out for a walk and come back walking along the boating channel on Tampa Bay today that I took. It is cold and grey. I almost decided to walk back from the marina beach to the house on the street but decided that "getting my feet wet" and "being knee-deep in it" were valid phrases to live out literally today. Kennedy and K2 enjoyed the frolicking. Kennedy loves barking at the waves when the foam or white caps make him think he is being teased by dolphins as he sees them do when we are on the dock at home. Come along for a walk. But be careful. Kennedy and K2 had been together for almost one week as I made this video. We had come home from a walk. It was a pleasant night so I sat on a chair to watch vicious GSD puppy K2 constantly attack poor perfectly patient and playful German Shepherd Kennedy. Some of K2's poses will make you think he is a bear. Others will remind you of Muhammad Ali, as he punches and dances, with Kennedy enjoying being his sparring partner as a parent or older brother would, although they had not even completed 7 days of being together. Kennedy is such a smart and wise dog. See how he constantly checks with me to make sure he is not overdoing anything. But he also naturally makes sure not to actually injure the puppy. What a great pair of dogs these two are.
