Praising Microsoft Windows Phone Even Years After Burying It - IMRAN™ I saw this fun meme from Windows Central and had to comment. It’s my personal opinion, unrelated to my working at the tech giant. I am a big Apple user (and was a Windows-hater until W7 came out) since 1980s, having bought ALL major models of Macs & iPhones. I started working at Microsoft 11 years ago. I honestly tell people that my still-working (sadly only as a wifi-gadget now) WindowsPhone Lumia 1020 still has a superior UI/UX to iOS 16 or 160 for that matter. The way iOS has not changed the useless icon grid display UI since it launched, who knows when Apple will innovate in Ui and UX again. My decade-old WP displayed constantly updating LiveTiles. They showed different sized CUSTOMIZABLE grid-boxes with office/boss email, personal email, messages, photos, weather, headline news, photo album, stocks, whatever I chose. It did that nonstop. No touch needed. No action needed. Picture/Windows: Blessed To See Sunsets Like This - IMRAN™ I had a 6 AM to midnight day yesterday. I made it back home in time for what was surely going to be a gorgeous sunset. I set up a Timelapse on the pool deck. However, there wasn’t enough time to go to the dock with a drone or another camera. Fortunately, I was able to capture several iPhone photos and clips from a window in the living room. This was the first one. No editing. A magnificent sunset with a boat. This boater was a sunset lover like me and stayed there until past dusk. Just as I would go out on my boat on the (Great South) bay and drop anchor. I would just soak in the sunset, say my prayers, have an on-the-water dinner that I would pick up driving home from work. I loved doing that since I got my first Sea Ray SunDancer in New York in 1995. Later I did that on that same boat at Singer Island, and the beautiful Sea Ray yacht in Miami. On Tampa Bay I sometimes did that, minus dinner, on my jetski. Last night I did it from inside the house. K2 & Kennedy Enjoying Tampa Bay Sunset Scenery At Drone Flight Start Selfie Time - IMRAN™ I was able to take the DJI M3P drone for a quick sunset flight. I find it disappointing that for some reason the ability to do live streaming from the DJI app is gone. I used to do a lot of popular drone flight livestreams with my 6 years old DJI Phantom 4 and its app. In either case, a quick selfie as the drone took off, with the setting sun behind me painting the sky in incredible shades and hues. K2 and Kennedy, on the left and right in the picture, sat watching the serene scenery as the drone took off. Spectacular Engineering New LIRR Terminal 150 Feet Below Manhattan NY - IMRAN™ I consider Manhattan, New York my forever American hometown for 36 years! I have always admired the feats of engineering that show up as literally countless skyscrapers and train tunnels upon tunnels under the granite foundation since more than a century. I have also been a Long Island Railroad (LIRR) user since 1993, literally years ago when I first found the spot to build my home on the NY South Shore beach in Suffolk. But those trains went from the old dilapidated Penn Station, under the landmark Madison Square Gardens. Grand Central Terminal is an architectural work of art. I often go there when in the area. But I only took subway trains because the other trains went north of New York City, and Long Island is to the East. After many years of incredible underground dogging and construction, plus the completion of a decades old planned tunnel, now I can take LIRR to Long Island from here too. I just didn’t have a chance to use it yet. I was in Manhattan last week to speak at a Future Of SaaS event at the world famous Rockefeller Center. After a great dinner hosted at world by the organizers, one of the attendees and I were chatting about technology when we realized we both were going to take the same LIRR train. He mentioned taking it from Grand Central and I said I hadn’t used it yet. So off we went. What an incredible experience. The train tracks are nearly 150 feet beneath the city. That is nearly 15 stories DEEP. That’s deeper than the tallest buildings in many cities. Imagine the marvel of engineering this is as I looked at the view from the escalator. it leads to the $12 Billion station that’s 350,000 square feet (33,000 square meters)! It took basically a century from idea to conception but what an amazing feat. I’ll post a video later. Ground To Air Photography Of Drone's Air To Ground Photography From Sea To Air Sunset Scene - IMRAN™ Everyone knows picture in picture. I love taking camera (picture) in camera (picture) photos. To capture this breathtaking sunset at my blessed home on Tampa Bay, in Apollo Beach, Florida, I launched my not-used-enough new DJI M3P drone. Then I let it hover as I took two photos with the iPhone 14 Pro Max (stitched into this stunning panorama). Later I flew the drone and captured a lot more imagery.
